New Life Fitness Ministry
The New Life Fitness Ministry is an exciting ministry offered by the New Life Wesleyan Church of La Plata, Maryland. The purpose of this ministry is to provide a service to the members of the community as well as improve the health of the congregation. The ministry offers fitness classes and educational seminars. Trinity Fitness provides the instructors for all of the ministry's fitness classes.

Fitness classes will not be held on holidays unless the individual instructor specifically states otherwise.  During times of inclement weather, the fitness ministry will follow the lead of the Charles County School System.  So on days schools are closed for snow for example, class will not take place.

Please feel free to drop in on any of the classes/seminars as all of them are open to the public (not just the congregation of the church). Unless otherwise noted all classes are held at:

Ongoing Class Schedule 

 
                                    
Class: Cardio Interval                                           
Class Day/Time: Mondays at 6:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.
Fee: See below
Special Equipment Needed: Exercise mat
Class Description: This class is a cardiovascular workout designed to elevate the heart rate and burn tons of calories.  There is no fee for this class, however donations are accepted.  All donations will go to the church to be used to fund mission activities.  Those wishing to participate should bring an exercise mat if they have one and a bottle of water. 

Class: Total Body Strength Training                                           
Class Day/Time: Tuesdays at 5:45 p.m.-6:35 p.m.
Fee: None
Special Equipment Needed: Exercise mat
Class Description: This circuit-style total body strengthening class focuses on the major components of movement (pushing, pulling, rotating, locomotion/balance and hip action). The exercises are done with very little rest in between in order to elevate the heart rate. The exercises taught in this class can be easily modified for all different fitness levels.  The class lasts anywhere from 50 minutes to an hour.

Class: Balance and Mobility                              
Class Day/Time: Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 am
Fee: None
Special Equipment Needed: Exercise Mat
Class Description: This half-hour class aims to improve  balance and mobility.  It uses a variety of different exercises done from the floor and standing positions.  Ideally, this class is geared for those members of the community that suffer from joint discomfort and those with difficulty doing traditional exercise classes.  The exercise is done with very little rest between exercise in order to elevate the heart rate and derive some cardiovascular benefit.  This class takes place in the main building of New Life Church.

Class: Circuit Conditioning Class      
Class Day/Time: Thursdays at 10:30
Fee: None
Special Equipment Needed: Exercise mat
Class Description: This half-hour class aims to increase cardiovascular conditioning and muscluar strength by using strength training exercises in a circuit format.  Participants of all exercise expereince levels are welcomed.  This class now takes place in the big classroom in the main building of New Life Church.

Class: Kettle Bell Cardio Strength                                           
Class Day/Time: Saturdays at 8:30 a.m.-9:00 a.m.
Fee: $6.00/class or $22.00 per month
Special Equipment Needed: Kettle Bell- Please read the class description!!
Class Description: This class is a short and intense exercise program aimed at burning fat, building cardiovascular stamina and increasing lean muscle tone using the Kettle Bell as our primary tool.  The class is 30 minutes in length but may occasionally run over.  Participants of this class must have access/use of a Kettle Bell.  Since we cannot provide a bell for everyone, participants must either sign up for the use of one of ours here or bring their own.  To reserve a bell for class simply call us at (240)423-5917 or send us an email at dscott@trinityfitnessinc.com.  Kettle Bells can be purchased here, or at local sporting goods shops.  The ideal weight for the Kettle Bell Cardio Strength class is a weight that can be pressed overhead for 10+ repetitions.  


Educational Seminars/Short Term Programs

Class: Eat Smart
Class Day/Time: Saturday morning, 9:30am-10:30 am
Fee: $99.00/month
Class Description: Eat Smart is a 3 month Habit-Based fat-loss program that teaches participants how to eat in order to:
* lose body fat
* have more energy
* improve health
* just feel better overall

In addition, the Eat Smart Program offers participants daily accountability, daily education on how the process of change works, and how to exercise in order to support the fat-loss process.

The current round of the Eat Smart Program is full.  Only 10 seats per class are available.  Call (240)423-5917 or email us at info@trinityfitnessinc.com to get on a waiting list for the next class.  The next round of Eat Smart will begin in October of 2011. 



 


Class: Eat Smart- Beyond the Basics
Class Day/Time: Every other Saturday, 11:00 am
Fee: $49.00/month
Class Description: The Beyond the Basics(BTB) class is open only to those that complete the Basics class.  Like it's pre-requisite class, BTB is a three month Habit-Based, Fat-loss nutrition coaching program in which the participants are guided through more advanced nutrition strategies as well as individualized tailoring of their nutrition habits.  This class is geared for those who desire to take their nutrition to the next level.
